Things to Do in Toronto This October 2026: Leafs, Cask Days, Fall Festivals and More

October is Toronto's sweet spot: the summer crowds are gone, the leaves are turning, and the city's calendar is packed. From NHL hockey and a milestone craft-beer festival to world-class dance and Thanksgiving weekend plans, here's what's worth your time in Toronto this month.

Thanksgiving Weekend: October 10–12

It's Thanksgiving Monday today β€” and the city is making the most of the long weekend. The headline event is the 20th annual Cask Days beer festival, running October 16–18 at the Clock Factory Building on Campbell Avenue. Twenty years in, Cask Days remains the country's essential celebration of cask-conditioned real ale, with independent craft breweries pouring rare and one-off brews. Tickets run $20–$50 plus fees.

Comedy fans get Jimmy Carr's "Laughs Funny" tour at Scotiabank Arena on Friday, October 16, and dance lovers have Fall for Dance North, the acclaimed festival running October 15–25 at venues across the city with free and ticketed performances.

Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena

Early-season hockey is in full swing. The Maple Leafs host the New York Islanders on Saturday, October 17 at 7 p.m., return home against the San Jose Sharks on Monday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m., and face the New York Rangers on Thursday, October 23 at 7 p.m. β€” all at Scotiabank Arena, 40 Bay St.

With William Nylander among the NHL's early scoring leaders and rookie Gavin McKenna electrifying crowds, this is a genuinely fun time to watch the Leafs live.

More October Highlights

The Toronto Taboo Show β€” the annual adult lifestyle and wellness expo β€” runs October 16–18 at the International Centre in Mississauga. Basketball tips off with the Raptors hosting the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, October 21 at Scotiabank Arena.

Looking ahead to Halloween week: pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo brings her Unraveled Tour to Scotiabank Arena for two nights, October 26–27, with support from Wolf Alice. Country-folk riser Waylon Wyatt plays the Danforth Music Hall on October 28, and indie-pop's MARIS takes over the Drake Underground the same night.

Comedy, Concerts and Halloween Week

The third week of October is stacked. Dave Chappelle brings his stand-up to the city, joining a run of major comedy specials alongside indie and folk concerts at rooms like Massey Hall. Whether your taste is arena-scale or intimate, the mid-October calendar has you covered.

Halloween weekend (October 26–November 1) turns the volume up further: costume cruises on the harbour, spooky parties at historic landmarks, electronic dance club nights, and indie-folk showcases across the city. Costumes aren't optional in spirit β€” Toronto goes all-in for Halloween, and the parties sell out fast.

Fall Colour and Free Options

Not everything great in October costs money. Fall for Dance North includes free performances alongside its ticketed shows, and the city's ravines and parks β€” High Park, the Don Valley trails, Rouge National Urban Park β€” are at peak fall colour mid-month. Pack a thermos, pick a trail, and you've got one of the best free afternoons in the country.

Planning Tips

October events sell out β€” especially Leafs games and the arena tours. Check official venue websites and ticketing platforms before heading out, as schedules and door times can change. And if you're visiting the CN Tower on October 20, note that part of the Main Observation Level closes from 3 p.m. that day (the tower also closes early at 10 p.m.) while it hosts Toronto Biennial of Art programming.

Whether it's your first October in the city or your fiftieth, Toronto in the fall rewards the curious. Pick one thing from this list and go.
